The Lazy Curl Method
The Optional Step
The Refresh
An optional step in The Lazy Curl Method. The Refresh can bring your curls back to life without have to start the wash cycle again.
What is The Refresh?
The refresh is the application of water, products or both to bring the curl pattern back and reduce frizz to achieve 2nd or 3rd day curls. In ideal world, we would be able to wake up with our hair still looking amazing. While there are things we can do to maximize the chances of this (e.g. using silk pillowcases), unfortunately most people will need to refresh their curls between washes.
What are the ways to refresh?
Dry Refresh
A dry refresh is using products on their own to achieve the result. To dry refresh, use your hands to apply some product (typically curl cream, gel, or foam) to your curls – scrunching to encourage curl or twisting the ends of your curls for definition. Use any remaining product on your palms to smooth down fly-aways with flat hands.
Wet Refresh
A wet refresh is very similar to a dry refresh, but with the addition of water to help bring the curl back. Either spritz your hair with a spray bottle or apply water form the tap with your hands before applying product, then scrunch to encourage curl or twist the ends of your curls for definition. Dry your hands completely before using product on your palms to smooth down fly-aways with flat hands.
Reset Refresh
Certain hair types (e.g. fine or coloured hair) are not suitable for a dry or wet refresh. These hair types benefit most from being completely saturated again, then restarting the routine from The Products and The Dry to achieve the result.
